to see what poets see

i want to see

what poets see

the ones who weep

at the sight of stars,

knowing they see

the hand of god

This is Fatima's hand for the Muslims and Myriam's hand for the Jews. But you have added it a deeper profound meaning with the 5 eyes in the tips of her hand. And they give the hand the quality of eternity and cleverness.
You never disappoint me, Magic Mom.

kel...thank you!

maria - that's fascinating! of course i have seen hand symbols before, but did not know the origin. i was inspired by antonio machado again, when i came across this: "it's possible that while sleeping, the hand that sows the seeds of stars started the ancient music going again..."

The hand represents the pillars of religion: prayers, belief in God and prophets, to give alms, to fast, to go on a Pilgrimage to the Holy Lands (the Mecca, etc)at least one life time.
Again Antonio Machado, that wonderful great Spanish poet, such a deep sorrow for his dead wife, and for the sufferings of people in our country, so inextricably intertwined to our land and landscape, in a constant search for God!

thank you for that additional info, maria! i've fallen in love with machado's poetry - he's right up there with rumi and hafiz in my book.
