Rekindling a Daily Mandala Practice

Rekindling a daily mandala practice has been such a gift.  As I wrote in my last post, it began with my participation in Judy Shintani's creative project - 12 Mandalas in 12 Days.

Now, I'm keeping a small art journal...
and creating a mandala (4" in diameter or less) each day,
using my chosen tools of a compass, pencil, permanent marker,
a pan of watercolors and my favorite Niji waterbrush.

The process is very calming and  centering and takes an hour or less to do.

You could say it's just my way of  "checking in -
to see what condition my condition is in."

Here's a little slideshow I put together that shows some of February's mandalas...enjoy!

If you are unable to view it here on the blog, you can watch it on YouTube here.

Oh Stacy, your video of your mandalas is soooo soothing ~ ~ ~ I love your mini mandalas! They are beautiful. You are so creative. Your light shines through your work! I'm rekindling mandala "practice" too :), just not daily. And it *is* very calming and centering... Thanks for your inspiration!

I love this Stacy! I love your slide show, the gentle, soothing music, the passing parade of gorgeous mandalas, and all created with a set of simple tools. To have such beauty set alongside such simple means is the true gift of your art here, and this post. Thank you for sharing the process so clearly! Happy Valentine's Day!! :) xxx

Thank you for those kind words, Christine and Edith. I love to create the slideshows...somehow it brings out another creative process with which to engage...it brings me great joy to make them...and hopefully, joy to the viewer as well.

I haven't done a mandala in years...but you have inspired me to get back to it! I have a favorite one stashed in one of my spiritual books somewhere, and now I must go dig it out! Thanks for sharing! Aloha
