if i were an arthropod i'd most likely molt
rainbow exoskeletons
if i were a snake i'd shed
kaleidoscopic skins
but my blood is warm
and my ecdysis
takes a different form

Stacy, looking at the larger image of your mandala, I was fascinated by the minute detail and reminded of snake-skin (which gave me the creeps!)
then I learned a new word for the week: Ecdysis=periodic shedding of the exoskeleton by insects and other arthropods to allow growth.
